What you will learn

An advanced course in the art of storytelling with leading practitioner Eli Anderson from StoryAid. You will develop a creative, emotive and playful approach to your delivery. The course will give you the confidence and skills to begin work as a professional storyteller, with the potential to be employed by StoryAid in the future. On completion of the course, you will have the chance to join the Society for Storytellers (https://www.sfs.org.uk/). The cost of joining the Society is included in the course fee. To find out more about Eli and his work with StoryAid please see www.storyaid.uk Designed for those who have some prior experience of either storytelling, performance or who have taken one of Eli's courses before.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explore two critical concepts at a simplified level apply at a basic level: Global Reference Theory (Story-Creation, Compassion and Humanity) and Quantum Dynamic Spatial Architecture (Space and Relational Being).
  • Apply techniques of delivery that will ensure an audience are 'with you' from start to finish.
  • Critically assess the quality of a story and make informed choices about the best environment for its telling.
  • Develop critical skill in appraising each other and learn the skills of constructive and supportive feedback.
  • Use journalling to reflect and increase the understanding of their work.
  • Utilise basic mindfulness techniques in the development of their self-care and storytelling discipline.
  • Experience and attempt ImproStory (OKUSHA=new stories)

Class format and activities

Listening to a master storyteller - assessing the key techniques involved. Developing your own practice through actual storytelling, reflection & adjustment Examining & considering the discipline storytelling through history, different cultures & mediums

Entry requirements

In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

What you need to know before you enrol

It would be useful if the participant had completed either of the previous experiences, i.e. Introduction to Storytelling or Art of Storytelling, but not essential.
