The Steering Committee is responsible for the coordination of the school development at the GISW and oversees the work of project groups. The members of the committee come from all areas of the school: Student Government (SMV), Parents鈥 Council (SEBR), Faculty Members, Business Office Staff, the coordinator for Pedagogical Quality Management, Board of Directors, Head of School. The inclusion of representatives of each area allows for an oversight of the work of the project groups from variety of different angles and a direct communication to all groups and departments.
The current developmental focal points of the GISW are:
The Steering Committee
- oversees and coordinates the process of school development and supports the different project groups that are working on developmental focal points based on their action plans
- is responsible for evaluating the measurements within the framework of school development
- informs all groups and departments (SEBR, SMV, Faculty, Board, Business Office) and communicates on the current status of the school development process
The steering group meetings are open to the public and can be attended by guests who register with the steering group leader Ms. Laura Artesi at lartesi@giswashington.org or the PQM coordinator, Dr. Hamandia-G眉ldenberg, at ahgueldenberg@giswashington.org at least one week before the next meeting. Generally, the Steering Group meets on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Steering Group meetings are announced in the school calendar on the website and in the Wednesday Mail.
The aim of PQM is to improve the quality of schools in the long term. German schools abroad practice this in the area of foreign school management (AQM). This involves managing individual, continuous, and systematic development processes.
The PQM Coordinator supervises school development projects and provides recommendations on all individual projects. Each project is aligned with the school's Vision and Mission Statement, ensuring that all initiatives support the school in achieving its overarching goals.
The numerous existing individual activities and new projects at school are coordinated in a systematic process and aligned with a jointly developed 鈥渕ission statement.鈥 The task of PQM and the steering group is to ensure that the individual working groups make progress. The core concern of PQM/school development is to jointly design an overall picture/鈥榮chool program鈥 of the school's work in order to avoid, among other things, the potentially counterproductive coexistence of projects. In a process of conscious analysis and reflective examination, we build on what has been tried and tested, develop our strengths, and optimize where we see it necessary.
An important subgroup of the Steering Committee is the Survey Group, which conducts surveys among our school community. Learn more about the Survey Group.
